Wales fly-half Gareth Anscombe has signed for a third Welsh club, joining the Scarlets from French side Bayonne for the 2026-27 United Rugby Championship season. Despite a season hampered by injury at Bayonne, Anscombe expressed his eagerness to compete and contribute to the Scarlets' success.

"My goal is to help push standards, share some of my experience and continue challenging myself," Anscombe stated. The 33-year-old, who qualified for Wales through his mother, began his career in New Zealand before moving to Cardiff in 2014. He earned 42 caps for Wales, with his last appearance being against England in the 2025 Six Nations. Anscombe previously played for Ospreys for four seasons before stints with Gloucester and Bayonne.

The Scarlets, who finished 14th in the URC last season, have also made several other signings, including Wales prop Corey Domachowski and former New Zealand U20 international Cullen Grace, aiming to strengthen their squad for the upcoming campaign.
