By selecting Lawrence, England prioritized four pace bowling options over a frontline spinner, banking on his ability to provide slow bowling if needed.

Although Lawrence has only bowled one over in the series, with pace bowlers Ollie Robinson, Jofra Archer, Gus Atkinson, and Josh Tongue dominating, he made an impact on Saturday. Coming to the crease at 83-4, Lawrence steered England to 177-7 in their second innings before rain ended play. The right-hander, with a best Test score of 91, countered seam movement with attacking intent, hitting six fours and two sixes.

Vaughan praised Lawrence's quirky technique and confidence, stating he is clearly a better player than during his previous England stint. England's current balance appears suited to home conditions and could work in South Africa and Australia this winter. However, stronger spin options will likely be needed for the Bangladesh tour next year.
