Bad light prevented Kasey Aldridge's nine-wicket haul from delivering Durham a County Championship win over Gloucestershire on day three at Chester-le-Street.

Aldridge claimed 5-16 and 4-47, but the hosts could only bat again after an explosive 10th-wicket stand of 39 between Sai Kishore (29 not out) and JT Langridge. With four runs required, the players did not emerge for a fourth day, leaving Gloucestershire refusing to bowl spin.

Durham declared at 384, a lead of 247, thanks to tail contributions from Aldridge, Brydon Carse and Matthew Potts. Gloucestershire were bowled out for 250, with Cameron Bancroft and Miles Hammond sharing a century stand for the fourth wicket.

Ben Stokes bowled nine overs without reward, while Aldridge's three-wicket spell on the brink of tea reaffirmed Durham's dominance. The match ended just after 18:20 BST, with Durham needing only four runs to secure a seventh win in 10 games.
