Linfield chairman Roy McGivern has stated that manager David Healy was "absolutely right" to condemn the "personal" and "vile" abuse directed at him, his players, and staff. This follows comments Healy made to the Belfast Telegraph regarding disgraceful conduct from supporters at Windsor Park and online after a 3-0 defeat to Ballymena United.

McGivern emphasized that while fans have the right to express frustration over on-pitch performances, they must not cross the line into personal attacks. Having supported the club for over 50 years, he acknowledged that paying customers are entitled to share their opinions and feelings of disappointment as part of the football experience.

However, the chairman drew a clear distinction between valid criticism and unacceptable behavior. He noted that recent interactions with Healy were positive, with no issues between the manager and the board. McGivern urged fans to show respect to the players, staff, directors, and fellow supporters in the stadium, stressing that the recent abuse was simply not acceptable.
