The new era for Ballymena began with a spectacular 3-0 victory over Linfield at Windsor Park, the first win there in 22 years. Five players who moved from Linfield this summer made an instant impact under new manager Oran Kearney.

Kearney’s 11 new signings and 17 departures reshaped the squad. Former Blues striker Chris McKee, who struggled for minutes, netted twice in the opening hour, both assisted by ex‑Blues, while midfielder Josh Archer and Scott Whiteside settled into midfield to dominate the centre of the park.

The result fuels Kearney’s ambition to 'upset the applecart'. It also leaves David Healy’s side concerned over depth, with only four signings and a short squad. Healy admits the defeat will demand quick responses ahead of the Glentoran derby.
