British freestyle skier Kirsty Muir narrowly missed out on a medal at the 2026 Winter Olympics, finishing fourth in the women's slopestyle by just 0.41 points. The 21-year-old scored 76.05 on her final run at Livigno Snow Park, falling short of Canadian bronze medallist Megan Oldham. Muir had qualified third but dropped to sixth after her second run before mounting a strong comeback attempt.

Switzerland's Mathilde Gremaud successfully defended her Olympic title by only 0.38 points over China's Eileen Gu, who crashed on her final run. Gu, the world's fourth highest-paid female athlete in 2025, had been favored for gold but allowed Gremaud to secure victory. The final showcased the depth of women's freestyle skiing, with the top competitors separated by mere fractions of a point.

Muir, who finished fifth in big air and eighth in slopestyle at the 2022 Beijing Games as Team GB's youngest competitor, now turns her focus to the big air event starting Saturday. Despite the disappointment, she remains one of Britain's strongest medal hopes at these Games. The Scottish skier has overcome significant adversity, including competing with a fully torn ACL in 2023 before returning to win World Cup gold in 2025 and multiple podiums this season.
