Hull City have confirmed the signing of defender Nobel Mendy from Rayo Vallecano for a club record fee. The 21-year-old centre-back joins on a five-year contract, with a further year option. The fee surpasses the £20m plus add-ons paid for goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis earlier this month, beating the previous club record of £13m for midfielder Ryan Mason in 2016.\n\n"I am very happy to be here and very proud," said Senegal international Mendy. "I am a very athletic player, a defender at heart.

I have wanted to play in the Premier League since I was little, so it's a great challenge."\n\nMendy started his career at Paris FC, scored twice in 28 La Liga games for Rayo Vallecano, and featured in the Conference League final defeat by Crystal Palace. He also lost the Conference League final the previous year with Real Betis to Chelsea. His only Senegal cap came in March against The Gambia.
