Great Britain's Angharad Evans won her first European Championship gold in the 100m breaststroke final in Paris. The 23-year-old finished first in a championship record time of 1:04.87, a lifetime best and British record. Evans claimed gold ahead of Ireland's Mona Mc Sharry (silver) and Italy's Benedetta Pilato (bronze).\n\nGreat Britain's Filip Nowacki, who made history for Jersey with Commonwealth gold last month, was the fastest qualifier in the 200m breaststroke semi-final with a time of 2:08.60, holding off team-mate Greg Butler.

Both advanced to the final.\n\nGB's Amalie Smith, 16, won silver in the 400m individual medley, 0.7secs behind Ireland's Ellen Walshe, with Poland's Justina Kozan taking bronze. Smith also earned gold earlier in the 4x200m freestyle relay.\n\nItalian teenager Sara Curtis, 19, broke the women's 50m backstroke world record with 26.63 seconds in her semi-final, bettering Kaylee McKeown's mark by 0.23secs.
