Less than a month after Mayo's historic All-Ireland final win, Croke Park hosted one of English football's oldest rivalries as Manchester United faced Leeds United. The friendly drew a sold-out 82,300 crowd in Dublin, marking another big night for the stadium in a memorable summer.

Manchester United won 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw. Joshua Zirkzee gave United an early lead with a first-time strike after 16 minutes, but Brenden Aaronson levelled for Leeds. Chances were scarce in the second half, but the atmosphere remained electric.

Substitute goalkeeper Dermot Mee, who played for Northern Ireland at underage level, played a key role in the victory. The match ended a nine-year wait for football at Croke Park and was the first time two English soccer teams played there.
