The incident occurred during the second round at the Winter Gardens, with Smith and officials attending to Menzies. Medical attention was provided, and the PDC confirmed he experienced high blood pressure.

Menzies was deemed well enough to return to his accommodation, but the match was officially abandoned. Ross Smith advanced to the quarter-finals. Menzies had previously secured a notable victory over Luke Humphries in the first round.

Glen Durrant expressed concern for Menzies, noting his current good form. The PDC wished Menzies a speedy recovery and anticipates his return to the sport.
