World Cup champions Fabián Ruiz and Gavi received a unique honor in their hometown of Los Palacios y Villafranca: their weight in tomatoes. This tradition, started in 2010 with Jesús Navas after Spain's first World Cup victory, celebrates local footballing heroes.

Ruiz, a player for Paris Saint-Germain, weighed 84 kilograms (185 pounds), while Barcelona's Gavi tipped the scales at 68 kilograms (150 pounds). Los Palacios y Villafranca, known for its tomato production, has now honored Navas, Ruiz, and Gavi after each major international trophy win.

Ruiz was also part of Spain's Euro 2024 winning squad, while this World Cup triumph marks Gavi's first major international silverware. The team secured the World Cup in North America this summer, defeating Argentina in the final, and celebrated with a parade in Madrid before returning to their hometown for further festivities.
