Hampshire Police are investigating an incident between Cardiff midfielder Krystian Bielik and a Portsmouth supporter during Saturday's 2-0 victory at Fratton Park. The Championship game was briefly halted around the 70-minute mark after Bielik, recently signed from West Brom, went to retrieve the ball from the stands. Video footage shows Bielik becoming involved in an altercation with a young male supporter, who caught the ball and appeared to be pushed in the throat by the player after throwing it back towards the pitch.

Cardiff boss Brian Barry-Murphy stated Bielik was slapped in the face, while Portsmouth manager John Mousinho apologised to the visiting team. Following the match, Portsmouth urged supporters not to speculate on social media while the investigation is ongoing. A club statement emphasized the welfare and safeguarding of young people as paramount, confirming they are liaising with relevant parties as enquiries progress.

Mousinho commented that the incident was not good and that the away side had been wronged, expressing a desire to cut such behaviour out of the atmosphere at Fratton Park.
