CAF president Patrice Motsepe would welcome a corruption investigation into African football, following the controversial AFCON final decision. The CAF appeals board ruled Senegal forfeited the Africa Cup of Nations final in Rabat on January 18 after players protested a penalty. After a 17-minute delay, Senegal returned and won 1-0 after extra time when Brahim Diaz's spot-kick was saved.

The March 17 decision has left African football's governing body facing a crisis of confidence, with Veron Mosengo-Omba stepping down as general secretary on March 29. Motsepe, claiming zero tolerance for corruption, called it "worse than Covid and cancer." He emphasized CAF won't conceal corruption under his leadership and acknowledged past problems that needed intervention.

Motsepe stressed the importance of setting proper examples for African children, rejecting the perception that corruption leads to success in life. He vowed not just to discuss corruption but to implement necessary laws, calling this "the best gift we can give football in Africa." The crisis at CAF deepens as the organization works to restore credibility amid growing concerns about governance.
