World champion Wu Yize has reached the Shanghai Masters semi-finals after a 6-5 victory over Shaun Murphy. The 22-year-old Chinese player, who famously beat Murphy in the World Championship final in May, overcame a deficit in the third round to force a decider. After Murphy missed a crucial shot, Wu held his nerve to win. "I never really took control of it," Wu admitted, "Hopefully I can find my rhythm... in the next match."

Wu will now face Judd Trump, who defeated John Higgins 6-0 with three consecutive century breaks. In another quarter-final, defending champion Kyren Wilson came back from 5-3 down to beat Mark Williams 6-5. Wilson will play Zhao Xintong in the semi-finals, a repeat of last year's match. Zhao secured his place by beating Neil Robertson 6-0.
