Senegal's appeal against being stripped of their Africa Cup of Nations title will be heard on October 8. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) appeal board had awarded a 3-0 win to Morocco on March 17, deeming Senegal to have forfeited the final on January 18. Senegal had left the pitch in protest after a penalty was awarded deep into stoppage time, which was subsequently missed. Senegal had initially won the match 1-0 after extra-time.

Senegal confirmed their intention to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in March. CAS announced that the case will follow a standard timeline, as the parties involved – the Senegalese federation, CAF, and the Moroccan federation (FRMF) – did not agree to expedite the procedure. The hearing will be held behind closed doors, and a decision will not be rendered on the same day. The incident stemmed from a VAR check that led to the penalty award, prompting then Senegal coach Pape Thiaw to lead his players off the pitch.
