England’s most recognizable superfan, 62‑year‑old Andy Milne, has put his Northwich home on the market to bankroll a seven‑week World Cup pilgrimage. Milne first burst onto the global stage when a selfie in an England shirt clutching a replica trophy went viral during Qatar 2022. Since then he’s become a cult figure, even appearing at the 2024 BBC Sports Personality awards.

The Cheshire property, valued at £350,000, will fund Milne’s trek across the United States, Canada and Mexico, where he already holds tickets for every match up to the final. He plans to couch‑surf where possible, relying on friends in Dallas, Vancouver and Mexico City. Milne says the sale marks the right moment after 27 years of owning a second home.

Ticket prices for the 2026 tournament have sparked outrage, with Football Supporters Europe filing a formal complaint against FIFA over what it calls “excessive” costs. A full‑match ticket ranges from £5,225 to £12,350, while some host cities now charge for fan‑zone entry and Boston’s train fares have quadrupled. Milne’s decision highlights the lengths ordinary fans will go to see England compete on the world stage.
