Arfield rules out permanent Livingston job

Experienced midfielder Scott Arfield has been named interim player-manager at Livingston after the resignation of Marvin Bartley. The 37-year-old will oversee the club's final three Scottish Premiership fixtures but has no plans to apply for the permanent role. Arfield jokingly suggested that getting "grey hair" might put him off the job altogether.

Livingston faces relegation after struggling to collect points this season. Long-serving boss David Martindale moved to a sporting director position in February after guiding the club back to the top flight via play-offs last season. Bartley, who replaced Martindale, won only one and drew six of his 11 matches in charge.

Arfield expressed skepticism about the player-manager model, citing how difficult it is to make decisions when focused on playing. He emphasized that he still feels he has "a lot to give as a player." The former Burnley man will make his managerial debut against Dundee on Saturday, with three wins needed to salvage anything from a difficult campaign.
