Livingston’s Relegation Sparks Dual Resignations as Arfield Steers Interim Staff

Livingston’s relegation from the Scottish Premiership triggered the resignation of head coach Marvin Bartley and assistant Neil Hastings. The 39‑year‑old former midfielder handed the reins to veteran Scott Arfield, who will oversee the club’s final three top‑flight fixtures.

Bartley took over in January after David Martindale moved to sporting director. Martindale, who guided the club back to the Premiership in 2018, saw a 33‑game winless streak this season, the longest in the league’s history.

Despite a 2‑0 victory over St Mirren and a 2‑2 draw with Aberdeen, Livingston’s fate was sealed when Kilmarnock beat Dundee United, confirming their drop. Bartley’s record stood at one win, six draws and four losses.

The club now relies on Arfield’s experience to navigate the final fixtures, while management restructures aim to rebuild confidence ahead of next season’s campaign.
