Leaked DLSS 5 Runs on RTX 20 Turing GPUs and Emulators

The leaked DLSS 5 DLL continues to expand compatibility, now supporting RTX 20-series "Turing" GPUs. Developer ShortFuse released new DLSS-NR builds, including a "speed boost" version for older hardware. Results remain mixed, with some titles initializing while others crash or fail to load. Red Dead Redemption reportedly worked, but Red Dead Redemption 2 did not, and Hogwarts Legacy got stuck in a standby state. GTA 5 ran for roughly ten seconds before the display signal dropped out entirely.

Additionally, X user @DystopianSuns reports the community has DLSS 5 running on RTX 20 and RTX 30 GPUs using an FP16 implementation. This shift from the previous FP8 approach addresses performance issues on Ampere cards, as Turing and Ampere do not accelerate FP8 like Blackwell. Using this method, users reported respectable performance in many titles on the Reno DX Discord with RTX 30-series cards. The same user successfully ran Manhunt through the PS2 emulator PCSX2 with DLSS 5 enabled, and other testers confirm the mod works in older DirectX 9 and DirectX 11 titles outside NVIDIA's confirmed APIs. This is still far from a finished build, but modders have taken matters into their own hands since the precursor leaked with NBA 2K27.

NVIDIA has not confirmed which generations will receive official support when DLSS 5 launches this fall, though expansion to RTX 40-series seems increasingly likely given the community's progress.
