NHL Trade Deadline Recap
The Penguins acquired 15-year veteran defenseman Justin Faulk in a trade with the Blues. The Red Wings dealt forward Bobby McMann to the Kraken and forward Scott Laughton to the Kings ahead of Friday's NHL trade deadline. The Kraken signed captain Jordan Eberle to a two-year contract extension with an average annual value of $5.5 million, the team announced Friday.
Player Movement
Corey Perry is heading back to the Lightning after a trade from the Kings. The Wild have traded for Blackhawks captain Nick Foligno, giving him an opportunity to play with his brother, Marcus. The Avalanche have re-acquired forward Nazem Kadri in a trade with the Flames. Kadri won a Stanley Cup with Colorado in the 2021-22 season but left for Calgary as a free agent that offseason.
Contract News
The Sharks and goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic have agreed to a two-year contract extension. The Islanders have acquired Brayden Schenn in a trade that sends Jonathan Drouin, two picks and a prospect back to the Blues. Schenn, had served as St. Louis' captain for the past three seasons.
Front Office Updates
After taking calls, but failing to deal goalie Sergei Bobrovsky, Florida Panthers general manager Bill Zito said the plan now is to try and get a new deal done with the 37-year-old netminder. Pittsburgh forward Evgeni Malkin has been suspended five games for slashing Buffalo defenseman Rasmus Dahlin during Thursday's game between the Penguins and Sabres.
