Trade Deadline Moves

Nazem Kadri is heading back to the Avalanche after Colorado re-acquired the forward from the Flames. Kadri won a Stanley Cup with Colorado in the 2021-22 season before leaving as a free agent. The Red Wings acquired Justin Faulk from the rebuilding Blues, adding the 15-year veteran defenseman to their roster. Meanwhile, the Maple Leafs dealt Bobby McMann to the Kraken and sent Scott Laughton to the Kings as part of their deadline strategy.

Player Discipline

Pittsburgh's Evgeni Malkin has been suspended five games for slashing Buffalo's Rasmus Dahlin during Thursday's game. The Department of Player Safety handed down the suspension following Malkin's dangerous stick work against the Sabres defenseman.

Contract Extensions

Seattle Kraken captain Jordan Eberle has signed a two-year contract extension worth $5.5 million annually. The Sharks and goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic have agreed to a two-year contract extension as well. Additionally, the Hawks sent captain Nick Foligno to the Wild, giving him a chance to play alongside his brother Marcus.

Playoff Push Acquisitions

The Islanders acquired Brayden Schenn from the Blues in a deal that sent Jonathan Drouin, two picks and a prospect back to St. Louis. Schenn had served as St. Louis' captain for the past three seasons. Corey Perry is heading back to the Lightning after a trade from the Kings, returning to the team where he won a Cup in 2020.

Goaltending Decisions

Florida Panthers GM Bill Zito said the plan now is to try and get a new deal done with 37-year-old netminder Sergei Bobrovsky after failing to trade him. The Panthers took calls on Bobrovsky but ultimately decided to keep the veteran goalie and focus on contract negotiations.

Playoff Picture

With the trade deadline passed, Stanley Cup playoff races are resetting across both conferences. Division titles, playoff spots and seeding remain up for grabs as teams position themselves for the postseason push. Draft lottery standings are also taking shape as the regular season winds down.
