ASUS has launched the ROG Strix Aiolos, a stylish portable M.2 SSD enclosure that transforms NVMe and SATA drives into external storage for gaming notebooks and handhelds. This compact, fanless device features USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 connectivity with 20 Gbps bandwidth, supporting M.2 2280, 2260, and 2242 drives up to 8 TB. The aluminum alloy body doubles as a heatsink with passive cooling.

Designed for gamers on the move, the Aiolos offers tool-free setup and full-featured ARGB LED illumination configurable via ASUS ROG SSD Dashboard software. The lighting integrates with ASUS Aura Sync RGB ecosystem, allowing synchronization with other ROG products. A high-conductivity thermal pad transfers heat from internal SSDs to the liquid silicone rubber-coated exterior, keeping it cool to the touch.

Priced at $70, the enclosure succeeds the ROG Strix Arion with double the bandwidth but faces competition from 40 Gbps USB4 alternatives at the same price point. While the cost may seem steep for a 20 Gbps solution, the Aiolos targets the gaming lifestyle market where aesthetics and brand ecosystem matter as much as raw performance. The device includes a one-year warranty and measures 115.5 × 46 × 15.12 mm, weighing just 139 grams.
