Meta PCs tested Windows 11 against Fedora Linux 44 on an all-AMD system featuring an AMD Ryzen 7 9850 X3D, XFX Swift AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT 16 GB, and 16 GB RAM. Games ran via Valve's Proton compatibility layer.

Synthetic benchmarks favored Linux: Geekbench 6 showed a 3-4% lead, Blender 4-10% faster. Gaming results were mixed. Windows led in Cyberpunk 2077 by 6% at 1440p and 7% at 4K, in Arc Raiders by 9% average FPS with better 1% lows, and in Marvel Rivals by 5%.

The reviewer crowned Windows the superior gaming OS, citing consistent developer support for anti-cheat. However, commenters challenged the use of vanilla Fedora over optimized distros like Bazzite, Cachy OS, or Nobara Linux, which use newer kernels and tweaks.

Many argued a sub-10% gain isn't worth Windows' privacy, AI, and UI decisions. Others noted Linux performs better on older hardware due to less bloat, and criticized forced updates that can break features or cause instability.
