Universal Display Corporation (Nasdaq: OLED) unveiled OLEDX, a proprietary device architecture designed to improve light extraction and utilization within OLED displays. The platform was introduced at the International Meeting on Information Display (IMID 2026) in Busan, Korea, where the company highlighted laboratory results representing one of the most significant advances in OLED energy efficiency since phosphorescent OLED technology.

OLEDX addresses the persistent challenge of trapped light within OLED devices through a novel architecture that redirects light into useful output. The platform enables display makers to unlock new levels of efficiency while providing greater control over light emission and utilization.

Key benefits include energy efficiency with a path to extract 100% of light from an OLED, high-fidelity imagery with ultra-wide viewing angles without color shift, and design freedom allowing customizable efficiency and viewing angle profiles across applications from smartphones to TVs.

"OLEDX represents the next chapter in OLED efficiency," said Dr. Julie Brown, Executive Vice President and Chief Technical Officer. "The platform expands the OLED design space, giving panel makers greater flexibility to optimize display performance for different applications."
