Ubisoft Confirms Two Far Cry Games, Multiple Assassin's Creed Titles

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot revealed in a recent Variety interview that the company has two Far Cry projects and several Assassin's Creed games in development. The upcoming titles will feature both single-player and multiplayer gameplay across both franchises, with one Assassin's Creed project widely rumored to be a Black Flag remake slated for 2026.

These announcements come amid Ubisoft's cost-cutting restructuring that includes layoffs affecting up to 18% of staff and canceling several projects. The company plans to save €200 million over five years through its reorganization into five creative houses, each managing multiple IPs. Guillemot attributed the restructuring to post-COVID growth challenges and flat-lining demand that fell short of projections.

The CEO emphasized that Ubisoft's priority is building a more focused, agile company with balanced teams combining senior expertise and young talent. However, recent cancellation trends suggest that long-in-development projects face the highest risk of being scrapped or delayed, as demonstrated by the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake cancellation.
