Ubisoft's Creative House Overhaul Faces Internal Strife

Ubisoft is executing a major corporate overhaul, splitting its operations into five autonomous creative houses. Each unit will control funding, creative direction, and publishing for its assigned game franchises. The company confirmed it will look outside its ranks to lead these houses, with the first appointment being Charles Guillemot, son of CEO Yves Guillemot.

Guillemot will head Creative House 1, centered on Vantage Studios, which manages Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six—Ubisoft's most valuable IPs. The new operating model officially launches in April. The filing also noted a trend of former employees returning to the company in recent years, though this comes amid severe internal conflict.

This leadership shuffle coincides with a employee backlash against recent policies, including an end to work-from-home and budget cuts. Thousands of workers have organized strikes, demanding Yves Guillemot's resignation. The financial document corroborates earlier reports that the restructuring could result in up to 18% of staff being laid off. The dual crisis of leadership nepotism and mass layoffs threatens the stability of Ubisoft's development pipeline.
