Ubisoft has officially canceled its long-troubled Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake, first announced in 2020. The French publisher also scrapped five other games—three original IPs and a mobile title—as part of a major restructuring. This news follows years of development delays and uncertainty for the beloved 2003 classic.

The company announced delays for seven other unnamed titles during a virtual media briefing. One game, originally slated for Q1 2025, is now targeting a release before April 2027. Industry rumors point to a Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag remake being among the delayed projects, though Ubisoft has not confirmed specifics.

Concurrently, Ubisoft is reorganizing into five independent "creative houses." This includes the Tencent-backed Vantage Studios, which will manage flagship franchises like Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry. The company is also closing its Stockholm and Halifax studios, with restructuring affecting others like Star Wars Outlaws developer Massive Entertainment.
