Chosfox, the niche mechanical keyboard maker behind the Geonix48 ortholinear series, has announced the Init40, a 40% wireless keyboard. Instead of ortholinear, it uses a row-staggered layout for easier use by newcomers to tiny keyboards. The Init40 aims to answer: "How small can a keyboard become without giving up what makes it enjoyable?"

The keyboard has a CNC-machined aluminium case with anodized finish, straight edges, rounded corners, and vertical vent cutouts on the left edge. A built-in strap loop is included. Keycaps use the LAK profile from Geonix boards, and switches are Kailh's Choc V2 low-profile switches, known for quality. A split-space layout improves usability.

The Init40 runs QMK firmware with VIAL for configuration. Pricing is unknown but similar Geonix boards cost around $120. It will feature Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz wireless connectivity.
