Microsoft is scaling back on numerous Copilot variants and consolidating many functions into the main Copilot app, creating a "super application." Features like Deep Research, Group Chat, and Podcasts are being retired, with consumers losing Deep Research and the latter two retiring on August 18. The unified app will now provide direct access to Word, Excel, Outlook, and other Microsoft 365 services.\n\nUsers previously relying on retired Copilot features will find everything under one roof, with chat history and content migrated automatically. Microsoft notes that there are 80 Copilot applications, products, services, and hardware across the company.
