AMD fixes Windows 10 driver install issue with hotfix

AMD rolled out the Adrenalin Edition 26.6.2 WHQL driver on Monday, promising support for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced and DOOM: The Dark Ages on all RDNA generations. The update also introduces FSR Upscaling 4.1 for RDNA 3 GPUs. The driver bundles performance tweaks for the latest releases, aiming to squeeze extra frames on both high‑end and mid‑range cards.

Customers on Windows 10, those under Microsoft’s ESU extension or running the OS past its end‑of‑life, found Radeon RX 7000 and RX 9000 series cards refused to install the driver. The installer aborts silently, leaving enthusiasts without the promised game optimizations. Without a fix, users miss performance gains and must fall back to older drivers, hurting AMD’s edge on legacy Windows.

AMD responded with the Adrenalin Edition 26.6.3 hotfix, posted on its website, which patches the installation routine for the affected GPUs. Downloading the fix restores driver compatibility on Windows 10, allowing users to finally access the new titles and FSR 4.1 upscaling. The quick turnaround shows AMD’s commitment to supporting legacy platforms.

The hotfix is available immediately from AMD’s support page; users should uninstall 26.6.2 before installing 26.6.3 to ensure a clean update. This resolves the install blocker and restores full functionality for RX 7000 and newer GPUs on Windows 10.
