Esther Henseleit denied Chiara Tamburlini an automatic Solheim Cup pick for a Team Europe debut after an extraordinary finish to the AIG Women’s Open. Henseleit secured her spot via a sensational final-hole birdie that forced a play-off, finishing second in the European Solheim Cup points list behind Charley Hull.

Tamburlini missed out by just 0.9 points, meaning she must now wait for captain Anna Nordqvist to make a decision on her via a captain's pick. Other automatic spots were secured by Celine Boutier, Carlota Ciganda, Maja Stark, and Linn Grant, while Nanna Koerstz Madsen secured the final spot via the world rankings.

Captain Nordqvist will finalize her side on Monday, completing the line-up with four captain's picks. The biennial contest will be held at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands from September 11-13.
