Solheim Cup captain Anna Nordqvist has decided against being a playing captain for Team Europe, prioritizing her performance at the AIG Women's Open. She acknowledged the immense pressure and distractions surrounding her captain's picks, which are set to be announced live on Sky Sports News on Monday afternoon after the final women's major concludes.

Nordqvist, who secured a tie for seventh at the Amundi Evian Championship and a share of 28th at the ISPS Handa Women's Scottish Open, admitted feeling "shattered" after her opening round 73 at Royal Lytham & St Annes. She explained that the "speculation" and constant questions about the Solheim Cup picks, coupled with sponsor commitments, have been mentally taxing. Her focus remains on her own game, with all Solheim Cup matters to be addressed after her tournament concludes on Sunday.

Regarding player qualification for the Solheim Cup, Nordqvist emphasized that players cannot solely rely on a strong performance in this single major. She highlighted that the selection process is based on a two-year period, although a significant finish in a major can certainly impact rankings. Players like Chiara Tamburlini and Helen Briem are in contention for automatic spots via the Ladies European Tour ranking, with Nordqvist herself having previously been a captain's pick and needing one for her last appearance in 2024.
