Police Scotland will not support large away allocations for future Old Firm matches after violent scenes at Ibrox. Around 7,500 Celtic fans attended Sunday's Scottish Cup quarter-final, where a pitch invasion followed Celtic's penalty shootout victory. Chief Superintendent Emma Croft confirmed the current away allocation model is 'not workable' given the disorder.

Sunday's match saw nine arrests with that number expected to rise significantly. Police officers sustained multiple injuries as missiles were thrown and pyrotechnics used during the pitch invasion. The 7,500 away allocation complied with Scottish Cup rules, compared to the usual 2,500 for league matches under a five per cent agreement between clubs.

First Minister John Swinney condemned the 'completely unacceptable' scenes, while Police Scotland launched a robust investigation. Croft emphasized that increased stadium policing is not the solution, stating clubs must improve their operations. The Scottish FA also condemned the behavior and promised an immediate investigation into supporters who entered without tickets, causing security delays.
