Formula 1 president Stefano Domenicali has confirmed contingency plans are in place for the 2027 calendar if the Middle East conflict persists. Unlike previous years, the 2027 schedule will not be announced until autumn. The ongoing US-Israel war with Iran has already canceled this year's Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix, with the season set to conclude in Europe if Qatar and Abu Dhabi cannot host. Malaysia was added to the 2026 calendar to replace the postponed Bahrain GP. Turkey and Portugal will return to the calendar in 2026, while races in Rwanda, South Africa, Thailand, and Argentina are under discussion for 2028.

Domenicali emphasized plans to maintain 24 races in 2027, citing strong negotiation progress in Africa and South America. Germany, via Hockenheim, is a potential future venue, with Domenicali noting renewed interest in European markets. The F1 season resumes with the Dutch Grand Prix Sprint weekend from August 21-23.
