F1 Scrambles to Reschedule Bahrain, Saudi Arabia Races After Cancellation

The cancellation of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix left a one-month gap in the 2026 Formula 1 calendar, forcing the championship to scramble for solutions. Liberty Media CEO Derek Chang confirmed F1 is "working day and night" to recover at least one of the two races, with the most realistic window sitting between Baku and Singapore in September.

Logistical hurdles remain formidable. Teams still have equipment stranded in Bahrain where pre-season testing took place, and the region serves as a crucial hub for Asian flyaway races. Adding both races would create an exhausting four-race Middle East stretch alongside Las Vegas and Qatar, though Abu Dhabi must remain the season finale by contract.

Financial pressures compound the challenge. Freight costs have already surged due to the conflict, hitting smaller teams disproportionately hard since shipping expenses count toward the budget cap. Haas head of car engineering Hoady Nidd noted the burden is greater for teams with limited resources. F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali has acknowledged backup plans exist if the conflict prevents end-of-season races, though the situation remains volatile.
