F1 Dutch GP Sprint: Russell Takes Pole as Antonelli Fifth

George Russell claimed pole position for the Dutch Grand Prix sprint race at Zandvoort, edging out Lando Norris by just 0.041s in a tightly contested final session. The Mercedes driver posted a time of 1m11.567s despite not leading in either SQ1 or SQ2, where Charles Leclerc and Oscar Piastri set the pace respectively. Charles Leclerc finished third, 0.055s behind Russell, while Piastri was fourth, 0.099s adrift.

Championship leader Kimi Antonelli qualified fifth for Mercedes, 0.227s slower than his teammate and carrying floor damage from an incident in SQ1. Max Verstappen secured sixth place for Red Bull, three tenths behind Antonelli, with Lewis Hamilton seventh in the sister Ferrari. Pierre Gasly, Gabriel Bortoleto, and Arvid Lindblad completed the top 10.

Liam Lawson made his Red Bull return in 11th position after replacing the injured Isack Hadjar, sharing the sixth row with Yuki Tsunoda. Franco Colapinto and Nico Hulkenberg occupied the seventh row. The sprint race is scheduled for Saturday at Zandvoort.
