Brundle Doubts Verstappen Will Quit F1 Despite Car Complaints

Martin Brundle has dismissed speculation that Max Verstappen might leave Formula 1, despite the four-time world champion's vocal dissatisfaction with the 2026 cars. Verstappen has expressed serious concerns about the new regulations that emphasize electrical energy over traditional speed, suggesting he might pursue other interests like his Sim Racing team and GT3 racing.

Speaking on Sky Sports' The F1 Show, Brundle acknowledged Verstappen's frustration stems partly from Red Bull's struggles with their first self-manufactured engine. The team has failed to finish in the top five for three consecutive races, a drought not seen since Verstappen was 19. Brundle believes Verstappen's management likely included an exit clause in his contract, but doubts he'll actually walk away.

Brundle emphasized Verstappen's extraordinary talent and car control, suggesting he won't abandon F1 unless he can secure a competitive car. With Mercedes reportedly having no seat available, Brundle speculates Verstappen might struggle to find a suitable alternative. The sport returns May 1-3 with the Miami Grand Prix, where Verstappen's future intentions may become clearer.
