During a Mercedes media session before the Miami Grand Prix, George Russell said Max Verstappen’s complaints about the new cars differ because he has already won four championships. Russell admitted he could understand the Dutchman walking away after the 2026 season.

The driver, who has voiced discontent with the 2026 regulations and the 50‑50 power split, hinted at quitting after this year. Russell explained that Verstappen’s frustrations stem from being at the front of the grid, unlike Mercedes, Ferrari and McLaren.

Red Bull’s technical reshuffle follows a rough start to the 2026 season, while Mercedes, having won the first three races, remains the pre‑season favourite. Russell noted the early lead will not last, predicting rivals will close the gap.

The Miami Grand Prix, scheduled for May 1‑3, will see the championship battle intensify as teams adjust to the new era.
