Atlanta Falcons edge rusher James Pearce Jr. has been suspended for eight games by the NFL for violating the league's personal conduct policy. The suspension stems from his arrest on domestic violence charges in February. The league announced Friday that Pearce will be eligible for all preseason activities, with his suspension officially beginning August 30 and ending November 2.

The 22-year-old player was arrested after allegedly ramming his ex-girlfriend, WNBA player Rickea Jackson, with his vehicle during a dispute in Doral, Florida. He was also accused of resisting arrest. While facing felony charges, Pearce entered a pretrial intervention program in May. If he avoids further legal issues for one year, passes drug tests, and stays away from Jackson, the charges will be dropped.

Jackson had previously filed for a protective order, stating she feared for her life during the incident. Pearce, the Falcons' No. 26 overall pick in 2025, recorded 10.5 sacks last season, setting a team rookie record and finishing third in AP Defensive Rookie of the Year voting. He has participated in minicamp and training camp, though he has primarily worked with reserves.
