The Minnesota Wild made significant moves Thursday, acquiring veteran forward Blake Coleman and defenseman Olli Maatta from the Calgary Flames. In exchange, Calgary received defenseman Jake Middleton and three draft picks, including a 2029 second-rounder. The Flames will retain 50% of Coleman's remaining $4.9 million salary for the final year of his contract.

Coleman, 34, brings a proven scoring touch, notching his fourth 20-goal season with 20 goals and 35 points in 2025-26. Maatta, a 13-year NHL veteran, bolsters the blue line with his defensive acumen. Middleton departs Minnesota after over four seasons with the team.

Minnesota also secured forward Maxim Shabanov on a $1.6 million deal for the upcoming season. The team further solidified its roster by re-signing defenseman Zach Bogosian for $1.25 million and winger Nick Foligno for $900,000, both on one-year contracts.
