Veteran goaltender Jonathan Quick is retiring at age 40 after 20 seasons in the NHL, the New York Rangers announced Monday. Quick, who will make his 921st career appearance including playoffs in his final start against the Florida Panthers, leaves as one of the most decorated American goaltenders in league history.

Quick backstopped the Los Angeles Kings to Stanley Cup championships in 2012 and 2014, winning the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP during their first title run. The Milford, Connecticut, native was the U.S. starter at the 2014 Olympics and added another Cup ring in 2023 as a backup for the Vegas Golden Knights. Rangers general manager Chris Drury praised Quick's work ethic and dedication in a social media statement.

Throughout his career, Quick earned respect from teammates, coaches, and staff through his consistent performance and professionalism. The three-time Stanley Cup champion finishes his career with a legacy as one of the premier goaltenders of his generation, having played for three different Cup-winning teams across his two-decade NHL journey.
