Sidney Crosby's status for Canada's Olympic semifinal remains uncertain after the veteran forward exited Wednesday's quarterfinal win over Czechia with a lower-body injury. Team Canada coach Jon Cooper stated Thursday that Crosby is "by no means ruled out" of the tournament, with the 38-year-old undergoing an MRI to assess the damage.

Crosby, who suffered the injury during a physical sequence along the boards in the second period, did not participate in Canada's optional skate following their thrilling 4-3 overtime victory. The injury occurred after a hit from Radko Gudas and subsequent contact with Martin Necas. Despite the setback, Crosby has been a key contributor for Canada with six points through four games.

If Crosby cannot play, Nick Suzuki would likely step into his role between Mitch Marner and Mark Stone, having already scored the tying goal in the quarterfinal. While Sam Bennett appears set to replace Crosby in the lineup if needed, teammates emphasized that Crosby's leadership presence will be felt regardless of his playing status. Canada faces Finland in the semifinals Friday morning.
