Rams CB Darious Williams Retires After Super Bowl Run

Los Angeles Rams cornerback Darious Williams has announced his retirement after eight NFL seasons. The team placed the 32-year-old on the reserve/retired list Saturday, ending his second stint with the franchise. Williams played six seasons total in Los Angeles, including the 2021 Super Bowl LVI championship season.

Williams recorded 12 interceptions, 77 passes defended, and 306 total tackles across 100 regular-season games. After winning the Super Bowl, he signed a three-year contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars but was released after two seasons. He returned to the Rams last year with one season remaining on his deal.

Williams' retirement comes as the Rams undergo a cornerback overhaul. Los Angeles recently traded for All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie and has four other cornerbacks set to become free agents. The timing suggests Williams saw the writing on the wall as the team reshapes its secondary.
