Liam Williams has announced his retirement from rugby union after a distinguished 15-year professional career. The Swansea-born full-back, nicknamed 'Sanjay', made the announcement in a social media video, marking the end of an era for one of Welsh rugby's most exciting talents.

Williams began his professional journey with Scarlets across two separate spells before moving to Saracens, Cardiff, and Japanese side Kubota Spears. His career path took an interesting turn as he balanced amateur rugby with working as a scaffolder in Port Talbot steelworks before eventually joining Newcastle Red Bulls.

The 32-year-old explained that persistent knee issues influenced his decision to step away. Williams paid tribute to coaches including Warren Gatland, Neil Jenkins, and Nigel Davies while expressing gratitude to supporters who followed his journey, which now transitions to a new chapter away from professional rugby.
