The company self-certified the market on Tuesday but withdrew it the following day to ensure full compliance. A Polymarket source confirmed the CFTC requested removal of contracts tied to NFL player availability.

Meanwhile, Kalshi continues to offer trading on Mahomes being the Chiefs' starter in the season opener against the Denver Broncos, as well as other injured player return markets. The NFL has objected to prediction markets involving injuries or officiating, stating they could be manipulable or known in advance. NFL executive Jeff Miller urged the CFTC to prohibit such markets and establish a pre-approval process for league input.

The league emphasized its commitment to protecting competitive integrity and noted it is not pursuing commercial ties with prediction markets, despite new partnerships with DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics. Legal challenges persist, including a recent San Francisco appeals court ruling that denied Kalshi’s request to resume sports or political trading without a gambling license.
