Patrick Mahomes posted a video showing significant progress in his recovery from December knee surgery. The Chiefs quarterback demonstrated his ability to drop back and throw a football 100 days after undergoing surgery to repair the torn ACL and LCL in his left knee. Wearing a compression sleeve, Mahomes planted his left foot and threw an intermediate pass during the training session captured in the four-second clip.

Mahomes sustained the injury during the Chiefs' loss to the Los Angeles Chargers when his knee buckled while attempting to rally his team. Dr. Dan Cooper performed the surgery, and Mahomes has been working extensively with Chiefs athletic trainer Julie Frymyer. Head coach Andy Reid noted Mahomes spends seven hours daily rehabbing, showing consistent progress despite the challenges of recovery from such a significant injury.

The September 9th opener against the Seattle Seahawks remains Mahomes' target return date, though he acknowledges the unpredictable nature of recovery. The video suggests he could participate in voluntary offseason practices beginning in May. Mahomes captioned his Instagram post "Day by Day!" and expressed his excitement at being able to throw the ball again, signaling his determination to return to the field without restrictions for the start of the season.
