The Cleveland Browns have signed free agent guard Zion Johnson to a three-year, $49.5 million contract that includes $32.4 million guaranteed, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Johnson becomes the second major addition to the Browns' offensive line this offseason, joining recently acquired tackle Tytus Howard.

Johnson's 2025 season with the Los Angeles Chargers was his most productive yet, playing 100% of offensive snaps (except Week 18) and ranking second in run block win rate at 79.3%. The Boston College product has experience at both guard positions and even played center during preseason. Despite his run-blocking prowess, Johnson struggled in pass protection, ranking fifth-worst among guards with an 87.4% pass block win rate.

This signing addresses a critical need for the Browns, who have prioritized strengthening their offensive line. Johnson's durability and run-blocking ability should complement the team's ground game, though his pass-protection issues remain a concern. The former first-round pick from 2022 brings versatility and experience to Cleveland's revamped front.
