HENDERSON, Nev. -- Tempers flared during the Raiders' eighth training camp practice Friday. Defensive end Maxx Crosby hit quarterback Kirk Cousins twice during the team period. After the second hit on Cousins' arm, the 15-year veteran had enough, getting into Crosby's face and grabbing his jersey before teammates separated them.\n\nCoach Klint Kubiak said it's part of camp but stressed being smart. "Obviously, fighting in a game [or] you throw a punch in a game, you are out of the game.

So we got to be smart." Tight end Michael Mayer liked that Cousins has that edge. "You want him to defend your team," Mayer said.\n\nCrosby had been warned about touching the quarterback. He acknowledged his intensity, saying, "When you get out there and bullets are flying, I'm not thinking about not finishing the play. That's just not in my nature." Earlier, defensive lineman Jonah Laulu punched guard Caleb Rogers, adding to the day's scuffles.

Mayer added, "It's energy, man. We don't want to be throwing punches, but I think on any padded day of camp there's going to be some [scuffles].".
