The NFL Players Association and quarterback Brendan Sorsby have agreed to drop all litigation after the league declined to hold a supplemental draft this year. A memo circulated to all 32 clubs confirms Sorsby will now train for the 2027 NFL Draft as a draft‑eligible prospect. He cannot sign a contract until that draft concludes.

Sorsby’s troubles began when the NCAA ruled him ineligible for wagering on college sports. He placed roughly $90,000 in bets, including 40 wagers on Indiana games while on their roster. A Texas court issued a temporary injunction allowing him to play at Texas Tech, but the Big 12’s federal suit prompted his withdrawal from the supplemental draft.

The league will not discipline Sorsby for the known misconduct but reserves the right to investigate any further violations, an NFL source told Ian Rapoport. Sorsby issued a statement accepting full responsibility, describing his gambling problem as a catalyst for seeking treatment and focusing on recovery ahead of the 2027 draft.

Sorsby entered the transfer portal as ESPN’s top prospect this offseason, and his admission of extensive betting made him the headline story. By turning his attention to rehabilitation and draft preparation, he removes immediate uncertainty from Texas Tech’s quarterback depth chart and gives NFL scouts a clear timeline to evaluate his talent.
