Bears WR1 Odunze Embraces New Role After Moore Trade

Chicago Bears receiver Rome Odunze is embracing his new role as the team's WR1 following DJ Moore's trade to Buffalo. The 2024 first-round pick expects increased responsibility after a challenging sophomore season marred by a persistent foot injury. Odunze caught just four passes for 88 yards upon returning from injury, a significant drop from his college production.

Despite limited production, the Bears remain confident in Odunze's potential. Known for his prowess on 50-50 balls in college, he had three drops in 2025, tied for the team lead. Coaches believe his struggles were an anomaly and have added veteran receivers Kalif Raymond and Scotty Miller to support the young playmaker.

"I'm ready for it," Odunze stated with confidence. The 23-year-old has focused on strengthening his feet during the offseason to prevent recurrence of his injuries. As the Bears reconfigure their receiving corps, Odunze is determined to prove he can be the consistent playmaker Chicago envisioned when they drafted him ninth overall.
